"I begin each day of my life with a ritual: I wake up at 5:30 a.m., put on my workout clothes, my leg warmers, my sweatshirts, and my hat. She also reinforces the importance of having a ritual as a way of preparing herself to start creating. Without that, you can’t create as much great work as she did. Creativity, for Twyla, is a combination of hard work and exercise. “Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is a result of good work habits. Twyla Tharp, is a great American dance choreographer, that produced more than 130 dances.Īs you can imagine, creative choreographies isn’t easy, and it requires constant creativity. I chose The Creative Habit, because the title was already a lesson! And when the title is a lesson, you know the rest of the book will be great! He wrote a blog post where he shared a list of 6 books that will make you more creative. I started reading this book because of Chase Jarvis' recommendation.

These are timeless classics your kids will love, and I can’t wait until Grace is old enough to read them. There are a ton more Trixie books, and you can learn more about them here. The Mystery of the Midnight Marauder (1980) It’s been many years since I’ve read the books, but it’s the first three that really stick out to me, along with a few select others. While I loved her, I never found myself nodding in agreement and feeling whatever the latest sense of injustice Trixie was going through. But Nancy was the perfect girl, the rich girl, the beautiful girl. Both series stand up today in terms of red herrings and whodunits. And I loved the budding relationship between her and orphan Jim.ĭon’t get me wrong – I loved Nancy, too, and she was definitely a big part of my original interest in mysteries. Trixie’s best friend, Honey, was rich and very much opposite her, but I loved the way they brought out the best in one another. Trixie and her tight knit group solved mysteries together, and their original series carried them throughout their high school years. I’ve read most of her books, and I admit to squeeing when I saw they’re available for Kindle. I loved her blunt personality, loved that she came from a working class family, and I loved her exploits with the Bob-Whites. Like a lot of mystery writers, I read both of these series growing up, but I definitely preferred one over the other. 7/2/2023 0 Comments Hair love paperback“Pre-School-Grade 2: A young African-American girl describes the familiar mother-daughter nightly ritual of combing the tangles out of her hair. “In this gracefully told story, a young African-American heroine celebrates her lovely head of hair as part of her heritage.” Lewis’s soft watercolor illustrations perfectly accompany this sweet story of self-acceptance, empowerment, and hope.” Natasha Tarpley’s book attests to the rich heritage passed from one generation to another. “I Love My Hair! (Little, Brown) is a tender tribute to African hair and the bond formed between mother and daughter through the rituals of combing, parting, oiling, and braiding. This imaginative story is a celebration of the special relationship between mother and daughter, as well as the qualities that make each of us unique and beautiful. Though Mama is always gentle, sometimes getting her hair combed still hurts! To soothe her hurting places, Mama tells Keyana why she’s so lucky to have her head of hair and explores with her all the wonderful styles that she can wear. Every night before she goes to bed, Keyana’s mother combs her hair. Moving from the homeless encampments that rings the city to the stately homes of Savannah’s elite, Green’s novel brilliantly depicts the underbelly of a city with a dark history and the strangely mesmerizing dysfunction of a complex family.” But one by one she inveigles them into helping with her investigation, and soon the family uncovers some terrifying truths – truths that will rock Savannah’s power structure to its core. Morgana is an imperious, demanding, and conniving woman, whose four grown children are weary of her schemes. Cassie learns that her job is on the line as the city budget has tightened. Expertly crafting this page-turner, Center ( How to Walk Away, 2018, etc.) creates a character you can’t help rooting for while constantly adding new tension to the story. Above all, the author’s correspondence with friends provides not only his lecture career but also his works and his writing process. In over ten years of walking, Thoreau kept observing nature, organizing his thought, and considering the best way to express his lecture his diary shows what elements in his daily life influenced his environmental view and motivated him to write it. As Rebecca Solnit has stated in “Wanderlust: A History of Walking”, the rhythm of walking could be the sources of music, conversation, thoughts, and literature. “Walking” has autobiographical side of Henry David Thoreau as well, and reflects the author’s personal experiences. "Walking" is a transcendental essay that analyzes the relationship between man and nature, trying to find a balance between society and our raw animal nature. "Walking" was first published as an essay in the Atlantic Monthly after his death in 1862. Thoreau read the piece a total of ten times, more than any other of his lectures. It was written between 18, but parts were extracted from his earlier journals. Walking, or sometimes referred to as "The Wild", is a lecture by Henry David Thoreau first delivered at the Concord Lyceum on April 23, 1851. 7/1/2023 0 Comments Comet in moominlandOL17730906W Page_number_confidence 95.41 Pages 198 Ppi 500 Related-external-id urn:isbn:0380004364 Comet in Moominland (Moomins, 1) Paperback Illustrated, Apby Tove Jansson (Author, Illustrator), Elizabeth Portch (Translator) 980 ratings Book 1 of 8: Moomins See all formats and editions Kindle 5.99 Read with Our Free App Hardcover 17.81 4 Used from 10.60 7 New from 17.81 1 Collectible from 349. 7/1/2023 0 Comments Hogwarts legacy jkMost recently, a report leaked out of Avalanche this week proclaiming that Hogwarts Legacy will include a trans-friendly character-creation tool when the game launches in 2022. Sometimes they’ve ignored the blowback outright, and other times they’ve offered overtures to fans who are, understandably, disgusted by the sharp, discriminatory rhetoric of their former favorite author. Interactive, have attempted to find a middle ground between affirming Rowling’s influence and quietly repudiating her prejudices. In the months since Hogwarts Legacy’s announcement last fall, Avalanche, and its publisher, Warner Bros. It can never be completely divested, and the studio is learning that Potter fans are increasingly unwilling to sweep it under the rug. Rowling’s ever-expanding Harry Potter universe no matter how much money there is to be made, or whatever portfolio prestige that comes from contributing to one of the most popular franchises in entertainment history, Rowling’s transphobia hangs over every project. This has become routine for every company bankrolling J.K.
